Sailing Championships in Lymington this weekend
The Volvo Noble Marine RS500 National Championships commence on 16th June - and seven other RS classes join them for their Magic Marine Southern Championship on the 18th and 19th June.
This means that on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June Lymington Town Sailing Club is staging its biggest ever sailing competition! This is a very prestigious event not only for the Club, but also for the town as a whole as it will further raise the profile of Lymington as a fantastic sailing venue.
As well as the title sponsors, Volvo UK, Noble Marine Insurance and Magic Marine, local company Harken UK are also supporting this epic regatta. The racing will take place in the Western Solent on two massive race courses, with Sportography.tv recording the action from the sea and the air. Saturday night will give competitors a taste of true Lymington hospitality with a large party for the sailors and the volunteer organisers.
The club is currently buzzing with anticipation and organisation; around 70 volunteers will be on the water and shore throughout to deliver the best possible event, supported by their friends at Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
Bath Road area parking
There will be 110 visiting dinghies arriving from Thursday onwards, the large majority on Saturday morning between 0800 and 1100. We have an arrangement with NFDC to use the whole Car Park in between the Club House and the Mayflower for parking.
Slip way restrictions Saturday 18th June
They will all be launched on Saturday between 1145 and 1245, with sole use of the slipway during this time. The only exception will be for the RNLI launching the lifeboat if necessary.
They will be returning to shore between 1600 and 1800.
On Sunday, they will relaunch between 0930 and 1030 so again the slipway will be closed for others, and returning to shore between 1400 and 1500.
They will then be packing up and leaving the area by 1800 on Sunday.
So in summary, there is going to be a lot of traffic in the area on Saturday morning, the car park will be closed all weekend, and the slipway will be extremely busy.
Apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
