The construction work on the new pavilion started in May and is progressing well!

The new pavilion

Woodside Park and Gardens is a thirty acre site, originally bequeathed to the people of Lymington by Colonel Henry Douglas Rooke to provide public space for sports and recreation facilities. It contains two playing fields owned by Lymington & Pennington Town Council. Within the playing fields, sits a sports pavilion. Due to the age, construction and limited provision, the time is right to evolve this pavilion to preserve its landscaped setting.

In 2015 Lymington Sports Association (LSA) were granted a lease to do just this. The improved facilities and additional space will create the much needed sense of sporting community Lymington has missed, whilst also enhancing the enjoyment of community groups which rely upon it.

The facilities will offer an ideal focal point for Lymington’s sports clubs, a club house the community can be proud of when hosting local sporting and community events – all year round. There is now also an opportunity for the pavilion to act as an appropriate base for running school sports days and children’s sports theme holiday clubs. It looks great and will sit in its corner at Woodside perfectly.

The new pavilion offers:

  • Four sports body approved & compliant changing facilities
  • Ample showering and toilet facilities
  • Two officials changing rooms
  • Medical treatment room
  • Multi role club rooms
  • Kitchen/canteen facility
  • Meeting area
  • Sports Equipment Storage
  • Trophy displays and notice boards

Buy a brick for the new pavilion!

The new Woodside Pavilion will provide an inclusive and welcoming community hub to engage and encourage young and old in sports and healthy recreation together. The LSA are giving everyone the chance to buy a personalised brick which will be placed inside the new building forming the ‘community walls’ and leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Celebrate a birthday, remember a loved one or simply have your name on the wall? Buy a Brick and find your name on our wall at the new pavilion! The are always looking for more volunteers; from an hour a week, our trustees will be hugely grateful for any time that individuals can put into a hugely rewarding charity.
