Soporific Sunday
It's brrr out there again now, but last Sunday morning donkeys dozing in early spring sunshine presented this delightful photo opportunity. Lots of people were stopping; there's just something about donkeys!
It's noticeable too how all the forest animals seem to have come through the worst of winter in really good condition. Plus there's more good New Forest health news following surveys carried out last year by Wild New Forest: nearly 40 rare species have been discovered as part of a large-scale effort to restore vital habitats and halt species decline. It feels like an appropriate moment to do a maintenance check on some aspects of our own health. And thanks to brilliant local businesses we can take stock of...
- first our hard working and utterly invaluable feet! In the words of Forest Foot & Health in Cadnam: 'most of us take our feet for granted until it's too late and pains or problems have started to develop. This can lead to easily treatable common foot complaints becoming more serious and affecting overall health and wellbeing. Yet most conditions can be routinely treated giving feet a new lease of life and avoiding pain and discomfort from re-occurring. It is not to be underestimated how heavenly healthy feet can feel with a bit of extra tender loving care. From problems to prevention, advice to treatment, under one roof at Forest Foot & Health you will find not only podiatry and chiropody but also physiotherapy and therapy: all the needs of your feet in one place.' Whilst in Lymington we also have the excellent Paul Gray Podiatry & Chiropody; on Fridays and Saturdays based from Lymington Chiropractic Clinic, Paul will swiftly diagnose and treat common problems like corns and ingrown toenails. We are spoiled with foot saviours in the New Forest!
- next our teeth and gums! If put off by the cost you haven't visited a dentist in years, it's likely a false economy. Regular checkups and cleaning can significantly reduce the chance of developing tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss, as well as tooth discoloration, infections and even cancers. Plus of course, early treatment of issues can prevent the problems from becoming more severe. Make an appointment with Solent House Dental Centre where Doctors Arni Badami and Susan Bush and their expert team will look after you and your entire family’s dental needs - from your child’s first check-up, to the latest in cosmetic and restorative dental treatments.
- and finally our ears! If you have concerns about your hearing or your ears generally, make an appointment with Ear Clinic Lymington. It's conveniently located in Lymington Business Centre, Cannon Street, just opposite the Tesco car park. You'll experience a professional friendly welcome and a very comfortable and relaxing as well as hygienic environment, and whatever the problem turns out to be, you will be guided to the next step.
Following our 'opening up' feature last week, Durlston School has added details to the Events Calendar for its Kindergarten Admission Morning on 28 February: you are warmly invited with your child to explore the indoor and outdoor environments and enjoy a snack time together too. Also Moving up to Junior School on 25 February: an information meeting to help parents and children prepare for the move from Year 2 to Year 3.
A reminder of tonight's Lymington Society Illustrated Talk: 'Major Armed Confrontation with Smugglers at Naish' at the Community Centre.
Wishing you wonderful weekends and read on to discover:
- how mediation can allay the trauma of relationship breakdown
- why you may not need a new mobile phone, or if you do where to buy it
- what culinary delights await you at Careys Manor Hotel next weekend
Best wishes Jane
