A new and thoroughly enjoyable shopping experience in a beautifully converted Chapel

East Boldre's new community shop and Post Office opened in February 2024, following a challenging 5 year project, spearheaded by Rebecca Gabzdyl since January 2019, to create a community shop and Post Office in East Boldre, replacing the previous small village shop and PO. Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the launch, marking the culmination of the project to acquire, repair and fit out the village's large disused chapel. This has been transformed into a large, light and airy community space including two separate areas. The shop itself is double height (remember, it was a chapel!) and light floods in from the vast windows above. The vestry at the rear of the building is a lovely additional room which looks out on the carefully tended garden and is used for community gatherings and touring exhibitions. The garden itself is beginning to grow - and will supply herbs and other fresh items for the shop.

At the front of the building is a large car park in which it's easy to find a space and to manoeuvre. Inside the garden gate on the way into the chapel there's also secure lock up parking for bikes, and a garden seat to rest awhile amongst the shrubs and flowers.

What can you buy?

Basically, you can buy nearly everything, from bread, vegetables, fruit and veg to gifts for special occasions, with everyday groceries at every day prices!
