St Barbe Open 2025
22 March - 26 April
St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to announce the return of the St Barbe Open Exhibition, a much-anticipated annual showcase of exceptional art from Hampshire, Dorset, and beyond. Now in its 25th year, the Open has become a cornerstone of the local arts calendar, attracting a diverse range of talent and offering visitors the chance to discover and purchase original, affordable artworks.
Each year, hundreds of artists submit their work for selection by a panel of experts, who carefully curate the final exhibition and award prestigious prizes. Thanks to the generosity of Kate Welsh, Coastal Gallery and Beaulieu Fine Arts, awards will be presented for the best print, abstract work and non-professional artist.
In addition to celebrating established artists, St Barbe is passionate about nurturing the next generation of creatives. Running alongside the main exhibition, the Young Artists Open invites 1–16-year-olds to exhibit their work, inspiring young people to engage with art. Long-time St Barbe supporter Gordon Young continues to champion young talent by offering four Ted Marsh Awards, providing cash prizes and art materials in memory of the museum’s founding chair.
Visitors to the Open Exhibition will be treated to an inspiring mix of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics and textiles, reflecting the extraordinary creativity of the region’s artistic community. The exhibition also offers the chance to take home a piece of original art, with a range of high-quality, affordable works available for purchase.
Adding to the excitement, visitors are invited to vote for their favourite artwork in the Chalk’s Gallery People’s Choice Award. The winning artist will receive a £200 prize, making every vote count!
