Free talk on how magnets can benefit your health

Health and Wellbeing Events
Date: Tuesday, 24 April 19:00

Venue: The Natural Health Hub (tucked down an alleyway between the Halifax and The Dogs Trust)

Did you know that magnets were first discovered to have healing powers several thousand years ago? Hieroglyphs show that magnetic therapy was used in Ancient Egypt, and the legendary Cleopatra is said to have worn a magnetic amulet to heal a range of illnesses, as well as to preserve her beauty and youth. Today you can get a prescription on the NHS for 4Ulcer Care dressings incorporating four magnets to heal leg ulcers and prevent their recurrence.

If you find it hard to believe that a lump of metal you use to stick your shopping list to the fridge could have a physical effect on the body, then consider a simple demonstration conducted at the Institute of Neurology in London: when neurologist Prof Tom Rothwell waves a magnetic wand over the left side of people’s heads their right arm jumps involuntarily. This stimulation of our neuronal pathways could, he hopes, become a future non-drug treatment for stroke sufferers.

It is well recognised too that magnets can help alleviate chronic pain. In a study at the University of Washington, for example, when magnets were placed on the shoulders of chronic pain sufferers for just one hour people reported a reduction in their pain of 50%.

And these are just the tip of the iceberg, we believe, in the potential for magnetic healing, a drug-free method of treating illness. Here are some of the many other conditions that can benefit from wearing magnets:

  • Arthritis and rheumatism
  • Sleep problems
  • Headaches and migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Sinusitis
  • Neck and back pain
  • Neck tension
  • Sciatica
  • Rheumatism
  • Digestive problems
  • Bruises
  • Fatigue
  • Tennis elbow
  • Inflammation in scars and injuries

Maggie’s talk will outline the healing power of magnets through her experience of how magnetic jewellery and accessories have worked wonders on people’s health. Check out the Magnetix earrings, bracelets and brooches we now have in stock at The Hub, including fun, brightly coloured bracelets for kids.
