Hampshire Open Studios - near Lymington August 2014

Hampshire Open Studios – "Pop Up" Art Exhibtions at various locations near Lymington, 16-25 August

“Alice in Wonderland” through the art world!

Hampshire Open Studios 2014 catalogue cover1.jpg - 13.80 KBFor 10 days, from Saturday 16 to Monday 25 August , we have carte blanche to wander through 160 art venues through Hampshire.  It is a MAJOR art trail – and not for the faint hearted.  You will definitely need your GPS!

But it is an amazing, wonderful and heart warming trail. For 9 days artists in Hampshire open their studio doors to the public, to share their passion, their delight, their creativity and their love of their art.

It's a kind of "pop up" art exhibition which is not to be missed!  It runs from Saturday 16 to Monday 25 August at various venues near Lymington.

(Most of the venues are open 10 am - 5 pm but some of the private houses may have slightly different opening times.)

Hampshire Open Studios is an annual event, organised by the artists themselves to highlight their work in the most inspirational and personal way possible.  Better than markets, fairs, exhibition centres – this is a chance to see the work and its creator, to talk to them and discuss whatever issues you wish.  Just visiting the different environments is an adventure in itself.

Here's a link to the Hampshire Open Studios website:  http://www.hampshireopenstudios.co.uk/

You will also find printed brochures in many of the local shops this week.

Whether on the website or in the brochure, the map is broken down into 8 different areas for ease of reference and art venues arranged geographically.

Some venues have a group of artists sharing their work, others are individual.  In the brochure and on the website are details as to the work of the artist, a brief biography of the artist / groups of artists and details of how to reach their studio.

Follow the pink direction arrows, bunting and anything else that may be pink!

For Lymington alone there are 34 different studios and many of these venues are shared by more than one artist, sometimes 4-5!  So plentiful and wondrous works to see, view, touch and discuss with the artist(s) who will usually be present.

Julia Osborne and Liz Pannett have especially asked us to let you know about their exhibition at ‘The Studio’, Bank Cottage, Main Road, East Boldre, Lymington SO42 7WU. T: 01590 626706. Liz says:  "You are warmly invited to this year's Open Studios to see new work by Julia Osborne and Liz Pannett. Julia has some lovely new bird and flower paintings, and Liz has another seven fish paintings continuing her last series, as well as some ponies and zebra. Bring friends and acquaintances, and tell others - the more the merrier - we'd love to see you all. Look for the pink flags along the roads as you near Bank Cottage, Main Road, East Boldre (the East End end!) and call in. If you're lucky there might be refreshments and there will certainly be lots of good art and cards!"
