Many thanks to all who joined in the Inaugural Great Lymington Scramble!

Special thanks to Alex Kerslake for the fabulous photos which encapsulate the fun of the evening!

Massively thanks to the weather and it being the hottest day so far of 2015, we had a great turnout!  Much greater than expected in fact, which was why there were queues at the beginning.  But it all soon settled down and adults and children alike, mostly wetsuited but a few intrepid souls in swimming attire only, all seemed to enjoy themselves trying out the new Giant Inflatable Obstacle Course at Lymington Sea Water Baths.  The winner of the timed Scramble at the end of the evening was Richard, Lucas second, and third and fourth were Malachi and Oscar.  All 18 competitors who took part in the timed race and didn't fall off the course were awarded a prize, thanks to the generosity of Gizmo and Yachtmail.

A big thank you to the Lymington Sea Water Baths

Thanks so much to Hugo and the team at Lymington Sea Water Baths, who kindly donated use of the pool with its fabulous new inflatable obstacle course, the chips and other hot snacks and hot drinks, and the wonderful lifeguards - who made the evening safe as well as fun.  And the Giant Inflatables are here to stay for the summer!

Thanks to Jill from Oakhaven who was with us all evening bringing calm and making sure there wasn't too much confusion!

Thanks also to the people who came to help on the evening and to Cherie for the beautifully decorated home made cakes which went down very well and raised a few more pounds for Oakhaven.

And before we list the prizes and thank the businesses who donated them, finally thanks to the Lymington Times for sending photographer and reporter Chloe - we're looking forward to seeing what she has to say in this weekend's Lymington Times!

Nearly £1,000 raised from the evening so far ...

In total the evening made nearly £1,000 for Oakhaven Hospice.  We know there were others who wanted to contribute, so we're keeping the Raffle open until after the Marathon and you can buy tickets for the fantastic prizes below and help us push up that total.  Contact us on the Lymington.com Facebook page or by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you'd like to buy tickets.  Tom and I will make the draw when we're back from London, winning numbers will be published here and the winners will be telephoned too

Big thanks to local businesses for the prizes!

marathon-training-jane.png - 218.19 kbJane - that's me!  I'm the owner of lymington.com, attempting to get lots of publicity and support for Oakhaven via this website and our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Significantly for me at least, I'm attempting to "embrace" a new decade with rather a large number in it, which makes me definitely an "old" first time Marathon runner!

(If you'd like to read my training diary it's on lymington.com here:  http://goo.gl/EXl2vJ)

lymington-seawater-baths-tom-penman-oakhaven.jpg - 40.64 kbTom Penman is also running this year's London Marathon for Oakhaven: Tom is just 22 and a very good runner!
He will be going for a fast time in memory of both his parents
 - his father died some years ago at Oakhaven Hospice and unbelievably his mother too just a few months ago.

You can support Tom here:  http://goo.gl/FOkV4F

For many local families, Oakhaven offers comfort, calm and consolation, at challenging times for both the dying and those left behind.

People tell me how their last memories of their loved ones are coloured so positively by the help and support of the wonderful Oakhaven staff as well as the sheeer peacefulness of the surroundings.  We are so lucky to have Oakhaven in Lymington, but it does rely for nearly 90% of its annual expenditure on fundraising and local goodwill.
