Oakhaven's giant water slide will descend Lymington High Street!

A giant water slide in Lymington High Street!

oakhaven water slideExciting plans are sliding into place for Sunday 10th July 2016 when a Giant Waterslide will descend Lymington High Street!

Travelling all the way from Costa Coffee at the junction of New Street to the bottom of the hill and a buffer zone on Gosport Street, the giant inflatable waterslide is an exciting new fundraising initiative by Oakhaven Hospice. The attraction is already gathering significant interest on social media because it is going to be so different! The idea was apparently inspired by the Bristol water slide, which was put on a city centre street in 2014.

Would you like to ride the slide?

You will soon be able to book a descent on the slide on the Oakhaven website; tickets will be priced at £15 for adults, £10 for children (aged 7+) and £40 for a family (2 Adults and 2 Children). In the meantime register your interest with Oakhaven’s Events Fundraiser, Gemma Sinden on This email address is being protected from spambots. oak waterslide“We have already had an overwhelming response to this, so please return your entry form (downloadable from the website) or register online as early as possible to avoid any disappointment” shared Gemma Sinden. “There is no minimum sponsorship for this” she added “but just imagine what a difference it would make to our fundraising if, in 2016, everyone was sponsored for just £20.16”

The slide will be available for rides from 11.00am onwards and you will be given a pre-allocated time for your ride with your entry pack - but note entry is strictly by pre-registration only. Changing rooms will be available. Expect to be wet at the end of the slide so come prepared! Fun outfits and fancy dress are fully encouraged!

“This truly exciting and highly unusual fundraising event is going to attract a huge amount of attention” said Mike Denny, Oakhaven Hospice's Head of Fundraising and Communications. “We would like to extend our grateful thanks to Fred Olsen Travel Agents for their kind sponsorship of the event.

“We have worked very closely with our local councils on this, who were understandably keen to know in detail about our plans for marshalling, health and safety and environmentally of course," added Mike. "They have all been very supportive in all respects including our application for a road closure for the day. I think suffice to say Lymington is very excited about this."
