Kingfishers care home in finals for teamwork award in National Care Awards

Teamwork: it all adds up to good things!

New Forest Colten Care home Kingfishers in New Milton has been shortlisted for top national award of Care Team in the National Care Awards

Team members at Kingfishers celebrate their Outstanding rating from CQC in 2017.

Colleagues at a New Forest care home have been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Kingfishers, Colten Care’s Outstanding-rated New Milton home, is a finalist in the Care Team category at the National Care Awards, now in their 23rd year.

Home Manager Beata Brzozowska said: “We are extremely proud to be finalists. It shows that our hard work on behalf of residents is appreciated and that is great for staff morale.

“We support each other in all situations and always strive to have a positive mental attitude.”

Kingfishers was first given an official Outstanding rating by industry regulator the Care Quality Commission in 2017.

The status was retained after a further inspection in December 2019, confirming Kingfishers’ place among the top four per cent of nursing homes in England.

Feedback from residents and relatives also reflects the home’s success. Writing on the public review site Carehome.co.uk, resident Terry Brown said: “The staff are all extremely friendly, caring and behave as if they have the welfare of the residents at the heart of all they do.”

Organised by care industry body Careinfo.org, the National Care Awards are designed to ‘celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care’.

A second Colten Care home, Braemar Lodge in Salisbury, is on this year’s shortlist in the category of ‘Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year’.

Winners are due to be announced at a ceremony at the Hilton London Metropole in November 2021.
