Pannage in the New Forest by Steve Elson 600x400The series tells the story of each season in this rich ecosystem, following the daily lives of local people who graze their ponies and cattle on the common land of the New Forest. Each episode explores the precious and traditional ways of life, bringing to life the hardships of making a living and challenges of the natural cycles of New Forest life that have been continued for hundreds of years.

'A Year in the New Forest' shows off the incredible landscape, rich history and cultural heritage of the New Forest and offers a glimpse of the magic it offers to visitors all year round. The first episode documents Autumn; the land cools, the days shorten, the leaves turn golden and one of the great spectacles of forest begins: the red deer rut. Whilst the deer fight for supremacy, other forest inhabitants prepare for winter and pigs search for acorns...

The series sounds magical and will be well worth watching - set to record or watch on catch up if you have a busy weekend planned already!
