New Park Manor Spa

Find 'me time' relaxation and family-friendly fun in the heart of the New Forest

Our review of New Park Manor Spa, where this summer you can take up seasonal membership to enjoy the superb family-friendly pools and spa facilities. Read on to find out more!

New Park Manor poolA short drive from Brockenhurst, nestled in the tranquillity of the New Forest National Park, you’ll find New Park Manor. Dating back to the time of William the Conqueror, New Park was once King Charles II's favourite hunting lodge and residence to his mistress, Nell Gwynn.

Today, beyond the beautiful facade the hotel oozes luxurious child-friendliness on a level that I’ve yet to discover elsewhere. Every member of staff wears a genuine smile, keen to ensure your visit is calm, relaxing and, importantly, fun!

A warm welcome

Arriving at New Park Manor, I found it easy to park and was given a warm welcome at the hotel reception. As soon as you enter the spa area a luxurious air of calmness and relaxation descends - and, importantly coolness, on what was one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Luxury spa with a New Forest view

It’s hard not to relax at New Park Manor spa! The indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool and outdoor hot tub enjoy mesmerising views of New Forest and I challenge you not to feel the weight of the world drift away as you lie back on the comfortable loungers on the spa sundeck.

Couple in hot tub outdoor New Park ManorAlong with the steam room, sauna and sanarium (which combines humidity with slightly less intense heat of a sauna), the sundeck, hydrotherapy pool and hot tub are reserved for those over the age of 16, welcome sanity space for frazzled parents, couples and friends enjoying time together.

There was a subtle scent of aromatherapy throughout the rooms, which, combined with the overall calmness and serenity, felt thoroughly refreshing. Luxury Family Hotels has recently developed a partnership and exclusive signature collection with the all-natural British bath and body brand, Bramley. You’ll find Bramley products in the showers and an enticing range of Brambley spa treatments available (more on this later!).

The perfect spot for a family swim

There are two swimming pools. The indoor pool overlooks the neighbouring forest whilst the outdoor pool enjoys the backdrop of the beautiful manor and gardens. Both are open to families, perfect for little ones to splash around and improve their water confidence with mum and dad. That said, there is plenty of space for all in both pools. There were several young families enjoying the water whilst I glided up and down, churning out a few lengths.

The opening hours of the outdoor pool are weather dependent; on this sunny day, the sun loungers were full of couples and friends enjoying the sunshine whilst children relaxed on beanbags in the shade.

Shady Play Area New Park ManorFamily fun in the shady gardens

The short walk from the spa to the outdoor pool takes you across the manicured lawns and past The Hide, a delightful wooden outside cafe/bar selling drinks and an array of delicious snacks to be enjoyed by the pool, on the patios or on the lawns.

Lawns and games at New Park ManorThe shady play areas overlook the forest, with seating and plenty of space for enjoying those delicious snacks from The Hide. Spot New Forest ponies strolling past and possibly deer too, if you have a keen eye!

Stashed in the gardens you’ll find outdoor toys galore - from ride-on cars to football goals, there’s something for kids of all ages, including a traditional wooden croquet set.
And of course, no day would be complete without a visit to see Bertha and Florence, New Park’s gorgeous resident bunnies (who, quite understandably were snoozing in the shade).

A brilliant summer holiday solution!

Bramley products at New Park Manor spaUnwind with a Bramley treatment in the Spa

Highly recommended and excellent value are the tempting treatments at the Spa using the fabulously pure Bramley products. I chose the back, neck and shoulder massage: 45 minutes of supreme relaxation using the signature New Park Manor Bramley oil, a stimulating and warming body oil for muscular relief. A delicious-smelling combination of wild mint, ginger and cedar wood.

The massage starts with a purifying foot cleanse: warming the feet is apparently key to slowing down the mind. My lower legs were raised slightly to reduce pressure and, having chosen a hard pressure, I switched off whilst Chloe massaged away the knots in my back and shoulders. I’m sure I actually nodded off during the head massage. All in all a divine experience!
