47 years of service – and still counting!

Careys Manor’s longest-serving member of staff has clocked up 47 years at the historic country house hotel in the New Forest.


Anna White Careys Manor Hotel New ForestAnna White, 79, from Totton, joined the company in 1970. She is now the hotel’s chef de rang, a senior member of the waiting staff at the Cambium restaurant.

Anna’s commitment to the highest levels of customer service has made her one of Careys Manor’s most valued and loved members of staff.

In 2015, Anna was named alongside Professor Stephen Hawking as one of Britain’s best older workers in the People Management’s 50 Over 50, which recognises the value and contribution of people over 50 to the UK’s workforce.

Managing Director James Hiley-Jones said: “Anna has been a truly outstanding member of the Careys Manor Hotel team for nearly five decades. Her unsurpassed dedication, her exceptional personality, and her commitment to only the highest levels of customer service has supported her in becoming our longest standing member of staff.

“How Anna continues to go about her duty with an incredible passion, with her permanent charming smile and real care and consideration for every one of her guests after all this time is testament to her extraordinary personality and character.

“I sincerely believe Anna is the cornerstone of the Careys Manor family, and I hope she is able to enjoy many more years with us yet.”

Anna said: “In my time at Careys Manor, I’ve been lucky enough to make some lasting friendships both in terms of my ever-supportive colleagues and with so many of our wonderful regular customers.

“I couldn’t imagine life without Careys Manor in one way or another, and hope I have many years of service left in me yet!”
