The Royal Oak at Downton is a local pub with everything: a wide range of ales and wines, cosy bar, large airy comfortable dining room serving quality fresh cooked food to up to 65 diners at once, welcoming hosts, a warming fire burning through the winter, summer outdoor dining area with secure outside children’s play area, and a long history!

It's situated midway between New Milton and Lymington at the Downton crossroads, close to the beach at Hordle Cliff and Milford on Sea, with the New Forest a few minutes drive away.

It was formerly a historic coaching inn and is now a modern, convenient, and welcoming pub serving excellent locally sourced deliciously cooked and attractively priced meals including Golden Years lower prices for smaller servings and Kids Eat for £1 -  well geared to the needs of locals and visitors of all ages and life stages!

As the days shorten and the weather chills, the roaring open fires help to create a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Kids, dogs (on leads in public bar area), hikers and bikers are all welcome as was the case in times of old.  Nowadays FREE Wi-Fi is also available to all customers, to suit the requirements of a modern age!

Golden years and light lunches are available daily from 12-3 pm at £6.95 per head with dessert for just £1. Meanwhile kids eat for £1 between 12-6pm. Wednesday Carvery is just £7.95 with a dessert for just £1, and there's an Accoustic Night every other Wednesday.

Great value for large functions including weddings

Able to seat 60 in comfort and suitable for large functions, the Royal Oak also does a terrific wedding deal with a 3 course meal for £24.95, plus a little extra to dress the venue which you can have as dressed as you like.
