Relaxation Room at SenSpa Careys Manor New ForestSenspa at Careys Manor in the New Forest is encouraging men to pay more attention to their spiritual health and wellbeing with a spa day tailored especially for men to restore and maintain their balance and reduce stress.

Every November, men are reminded of the importance of staying healthy as thousands across the country eschew their usual clean-shaven look and start cultivating an often startling crop of facial hair.

The ‘Movember’ movement, which sees men around the world sporting moustaches of all shapes and sizes, may have a comic image, but it carries an important message – raising awareness of men’s health and focusing on prostate and testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

From humble beginnings in Australia in 2003, the Movember Foundation has become a global movement that has raised more than £450m to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives.

An increased interest in their health and wellbeing has led to a huge increase by men for specific spa packages – and SenSpa, at Careys Manor Hotel in the New Forest, has responded to this by launching Khem Khaeng. Meaning vigorous and strong in Thai, Khem Khaeng has been designed to calm the mind, body and soul and reduce stress.

Spa Director Lina Lotto says: “Our Thai therapies, treatments and food lend themselves to men as well as women, but the physical and often mental differences between the sexes mean that men forget the relaxation and spiritual side of their wellbeing. This is why we designed Khem Khaeng.”

Treatments include a men’s essential facial, men’s hand or foot grooming, anti-stress massage and a traditional Thai massage.

The men’s spa day also includes the spa’s world-class hydrotherapy pool, where specialised jets and fountains are designed to relax muscles, ease tension, increase circulation and improve joint mobility. The hydrotherapy suite also has a crystal steam room, and experience showers ranging from a tropical storm to a bracing seascape.

The men’s Khem Khaeng spa day costs £175 and includes:

  • Tour of the spa facilities
  • A light breakfast and selected refreshments
  • Use of the SenSpa facilities
  • A two-course Thai lunch
  • A 60-min massage or facial. Choose from Sen Vitalising Massage, Traditional Thai Massage, Essential Relaxation Massage, Anti-stress massage, Oriental Foot Massage, Men’s Essential Facial, men’s hand or foot grooming.
