Heavy downpours have left roads in Brockenhurst in the New Forest impassable and delayed train services.

The B3055 Sway Road has been closed in both directions between The Rise junction and the Pitmore Lane junction, because of flooding.

Deep floodwater has also left Brookley Road in the village impassable at the Burley Road junction.

South West Trains said services were having to run at a reduced speed between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: “About 32mm of rain has fallen in the last 18 hours and another 10mm-15mm of rain is forecast for the remainder of today.  Levels in the Lymington River at Brockenhurst are rising and will do so for at ;least the next 14 hours, remaining high until the early hours of tomorrow.”

The Beaulieu River is also causing concern - rising river levels, combined with high tides don't often but do occasionally, result in flooding on the B3056.

Undershore Road is also now closed.
