Moonglo offers deeply relaxing Sound Baths in the New Forest in Lymington and Brockenhurst

About sound healing

Sound healing is an ancient practice which is used to guide people into a state of deep relaxation and peace.

A Sound Bath, which can be taken individually or in groups, is a form of meditative experience: those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves from crystal bowls, encouraging the mind to expand consciousness and go into a dream like state. This can positively impact mood, focus and overall well-being.

The sound waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes and even the human voice itself.

The deeply meditative place into which the mind is encouraged enables healing on an emotional and cellular level, with the sound vibrations and frequencies encouraging a balancing effect with the body as they gently resonate with the body’s energy.

Moonglo invites you to relax in a Sound Bath:

Sophia explains the benefits

moonglo sophia with crystal bowls"As a sound healer, my philosophy is deeply rooted in my extensive training and experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist, especially in addressing anxiety and depression. This unique combination allows me seamlessly to integrate therapeutic techniques with sound healing practices, offering a holistic approach.

By understanding the mind and emotional well-being, I tailor my sound healing sessions to not only foster physical relaxation but also promote psychological healing and emotional balance.

This ensures my clients receive comprehensive, compassionate care that supports their overall well-being.

A sound bath offers a deeply immersive and therapeutic experience, promoting relaxation, stress relief, and emotional balance. The soothing vibrations from alchemy crystal singing bowls, gongs, and other sound instruments create a meditative soundscape that quiets the mind, releases tension, and fosters a sense of inner peace.

The vibrations created by instruments in a sound bath help access deeper levels of meditation through several mechanisms:

The body and brain naturally respond to the frequencies and rhythms of sound. This phenomenon, called entrainment, aligns brainwaves with the rhythm of the sound, facilitating a shift from beta brainwaves (alert and active) to alpha and theta brainwaves (relaxed and meditative), promoting a meditative state. Calming the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS):

Slow Rhythms and Frequencies:

The slow, steady rhythms and lower frequencies of instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks encourage the body to transition from the sympathetic nervous system (associated with the fight-or-flight response) to the parasympathetic nervous system (associated with rest and digestion).

Brainwave Entrainment:

The consistent, rhythmic sounds help synchronize brainwaves to lower frequencies, such as alpha and theta waves, which are associated with relaxation, meditation, and a sense of calm, thereby activating the PNS.

Reduced Heart Rate and Blood Pressure:

The soothing sounds and vibrations can  lower the heart rate and blood pressure, a direct result of increased parasympathetic activity.

Breath Regulation:

Calming sounds lead to deeper and slower breathing patterns, stimulating the vagus nerve and promoting relaxation and reduced stress.

Emotional Release:

The therapeutic nature of sound helps release pent-up emotions and stress, leading to a relaxed state and lower stress hormone levels, further engaging the parasympathetic nervous system.

Mindfulness and Present-Moment Awareness:

The immersive sound experience anchors participants in the present moment, reducing anxiety about the past or future. This mindfulness practice is associated with increased parasympathetic activity and overall stress reduction.

By engaging these physiological and psychological pathways, sound baths effectively stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, leading to a state of deep relaxation and calm.

Physical Vibration:

The vibrations from instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks resonate through the body, helping release tension and blockages, and promoting physical and mental relaxation conducive to deeper meditation.

Focus and Distraction:

The immersive sound environment distracts the mind from intrusive thoughts and external concerns, allowing for a more profound inward experience, similar to how traditional meditation techniques use breath or a mantra.

Emotional Release:

The sounds and vibrations evoke emotions and facilitate their release, clearing emotional blockages and making it easier to reach deeper meditative states.

Altered States of Consciousness:

The unique auditory experience of a sound bath can induce altered states of consciousness, similar to those achieved through deep meditation or certain forms of breathwork. These states provide access to deeper levels of awareness and insight.

Overall, these effects help participants access deeper levels of meditation during a sound bath.

Attending a sound bath provides a unique opportunity to disconnect from daily stressors, rejuvenate the body, and connect with oneself on a deeper level, all within a tranquil and supportive environment.

All you have to do is lie down, get comfortable, and soak in the vibrations.

And her approach...

My approach focuses on mental, physical, and emotional well-being rather than the spiritual aspect, rooted in my core training in mental health. My sound baths uniquely integrate sound healing with evidence-based therapeutic techniques.

Holistic Approach:

My sessions address mental, physical, and emotional well-being, ensuring a comprehensive healing experience with a focus on mindfulness and deep relaxation. This encourages the brain to access deep levels of rest and calm, akin to deep meditation, which some people find hard to access on their own through traditional meditation techniques.

Safe and Supportive Environment:

I create a safe and nurturing space where clients feel supported and understood, facilitating a deeper and more effective healing process. Relaxation techniques enhance effectiveness in reducing stress and promoting mental clarity.

These elements make my sound baths uniquely powerful and transformative, distinguished by a strong foundation in mental health and personalised care.
