On Saturday it's the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and on Sunday An Evening of Opera: details here.
- Gardens open at 3pm each day with lots of extra treats in store
- Both performances begin at 5pm
- Wheelchair users are welcome but no dogs please
- Bring chairs, cushions and blankets for your comfort
- Tickets will be available at the gate now as well.
- All tickets are protected and in the event of cancellation due to bad weather they will be refunded.
Hammersley Homes is a very special Lymington based charity on a terrific mission: to provide support for life for the enormous number of adults living with long term mental distress. These people are typically living alone, or with family whose own lives are impacted and who one day won’t be there for them. Some are homeless. They're often without friends or a sense of community or purpose – vital elements of our general wellbeing.
"We support adults living with long-term mental illness by offering companionship, practical help with daily living, and ultimately the hope of permanent supported housing. With kindness and compassion, we aim to reduce isolation, improve lives, and build a future where no one is left to struggle alone. By joining us for these extraordinary evenings, you are helping to build a more compassionate and inclusive world." (Louise Hallett, Founder of Hammersley Homes)
Last year’s charity music event at Kingfishers was a huge success, drawing around 500 attendees each day with amazing feedback all round; Amanda and the Hammersley Homes team hope these numbers will be exceeded this weekend!
If you possibly can, do support this wonderful weekend - and enjoy!

Emergency alerts test – Sunday 7 September
At 3pm on Sunday 7 September, people across the UK will receive an emergency alert test to their mobile phones. Devices will vibrate and make a loud siren sound for roughly 10 seconds. A test message will also appear on screens. You do not need to do anything when you receive the message as it is just a test. See https://www.gov.uk/alerts for more details.(Fortunately it's before the music starts at Kingfishers!)
And now read on about October and Onwards at the Montagu Arms Hotel.
And finally - Happy September!
Best wishes Jane
What's On October & Onwards:
Focus on Autumn & Christmas at the Montagu Arms
As we sadly say goodbye to our long hot summer (although there's always the possibility ahead an Indian one!) there are lots of positives to autumn and winter, too. Crisp morning walks with crunchy amber leaves under foot; pumpkin spice and cosy jumper afternoons; hot soup lunches, and well deserved hot chocolates all sound pretty appealing!
The team at the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu have put together a great line up of autumn and winter activities. They invite you to take a look at what's on offer and to consider booking now so you have some lovely things to look forward to as the days draw in and the nights lengthen.
Starting with half term and Halloween, between 27 October and 2 November there will be a Halloween Pumpkin Hunt: a free trail around the Montagu Arms’ hotel gardens, with riddles and pumpkins to find that will lead you to your treat!
Then as autumn turns into winter and the festive season arrives, between 14 November and 30 December the Montagu Arms traditional Afternoon Tea becomes Festive Afternoon Tea with sweet and savoury treats in a cosy lounge with roaring fire and festive music to accompany.
If you're looking to get friends together or arrange a private family lunch, why not let the Montagu Arms hotel host. And if you’re looking for somewhere to hold your Christmas party or festive dinner this year, with exquisite dining options or informal festive celebrations, you can start planning festivities at the Montagu Arms from 13 November.
There's also the opportunity to try something new this winter with the Montagu Arms Winter Flower Arranging Workshop with professional florist, Mala Williams giving you expert floristry tips and showing you how to create your very own spectacular flower arrangement. During the day you’ll create a festive arrangement to take home or to give as a gift and enjoy a buffet lunch with coffee.
On Christmas Day Monty’s Inn, the hotel’s very own country pub, is offering to do all the prep and hard work so you can bring the family together to enjoy a festive feast with with zero washing up!
Or if Christmas will be at home but you’re keen to get away or out for New Year, the Montagu Arms will be offering a special New Year's Eve house party including a Champagne and canapés reception followed by a dinner at the Terrace Restaurant and music from their live band. Read more...
