Autumn's Magical Moons

As autumn makes its steady progress and dusk falls earlier each day, the moon seems to take on a deeper, almost mystical presence.

At the same time, whilst we're busy getting things done after the summer, I think there's also a need to slow down and reconnect... for me right now it's with nature in the Canadian Rockies which are AMAZING, but in general it's a good plan sometimes, simply to pause and reconnect with ourselves.

So this seems an appropriate moment to give another mention to the SenSpa Autumn Sound Sessions at Careys Manor Hotel.

Imagine yourself floating effortlessly in warm water, your body gently supported as waves of sound drift above and below the surface. In a ‘Sen Sound Session’, the blend of music, water, and subtle movement surrounds you completely, melting away tension and drawing you into a state of deep, restorative calm.

This autumn's sessions are designed to align with the phases of the moon, focusing on the different chakra energies of each of the autumn full moons.

September's Harvest Moon represents stability, security, and reconnecting with the Earth. This session focuses on the Root Chakra: our energetic foundation, which helps us feel anchored and supported as we transition into the darker months.

October's Hunter’s Moon carries an energy of release - of letting go of what no longer serves us. This session works with the Sacral Chakra, the centre of creativity and flow. It invites us to tune into our emotional bodies - our feelings, intuition, and sensuality.

November's Beaver Moon is associated with determination, focus, and the power to see things through; a time to reconnect with our inner strength. The final session centres on the Solar Plexus Chakra - our source of confidence and willpower.

Tempted to give it a go? If you are, do book up quickly - spaces are limited and these evenings are always popular!

I’ve been sent a list of local contacts, any of which we might need from time to time. So I’ve added a new contacts section to this newsletter with links to the relevant information. Newly Added Events

Events added this week include on 12 October Run Beaulieu with 10k, 5k and 3k children's routes; all proceeds will go towards supporting the Countryside Education Trust in celebration of its 50th year of connecting people of all ages with the British Countryside. Details and entry form here. And on 20 October in aid of CET there's a fun sounding evening New Forest Chefs on Parade, which will be held at the Brabazon at Beaulieu.

On 8 October the Lymington Society is hosting a Private View of 'Life of the Fields', the new exhibition at St Barbe Art Gallery; and on 14 November a special talk at Lymington Community Centre: Grace Darling and the Fine Art of Saving Lives at Sea.

Meanwhile, tomorrow there's a FREE Open Day at Hurst Castle as part of the Heritage Open Days campaign, celebrating our local very special heritage site and its unique coastal location. Entrance to the castle and all activities are FREE and there's plenty to keep the whole family entertained including family trails, children’s arts & crafts, wildlife experts, and talks on the 12.5” RML guns. First ferry leaves Keyhaven at 10am (ferry charges do apply).

And finally, there was another interesting gem in the Echo this week: three rare ladybird species have been found in the New Forest this summer. One of these, the Little Arboreal Ladybird, is new to Britain. The other two, the 13-spot Ladybird (which seems to be yellow!) and the Adonis’ Ladybird, were discovered during survey work. More here.

Best wishes Jane
