Help on hand and your help needed too
Easter message from the Town Mayor of Lymington and Pennington
9 April 2020
"As we move into our third week of staying at home, perhaps settling into a way of life that none of us ever thought we would get used to, I am reminded that we are also approaching the Easter weekend. Usually a time for getting out and about, especially with the advent of the better weather, and for catching up with family and friends.
Of course this year will be very different. I am sure that nobody will need reminding only to leave the house for basic necessities - food and medicines, one form of exercise a day, a medical need or essential travel to work.
From 14 April 2020, the Town Council will have a direct phone line for anyone in Lymington and Pennington needing help with essential food supplies or medicines, and if you need any other kind of support we can channel or advise your request.
So do call 02380 285893 10.00am-2.00pm, Mon-Fri if we can help.
(For more detail please see Lymington.com's main information page http://lymington.com/133-locally/1605-covid19-new-forest which has just been updated.)
Rubbish collections - kerbside collections are continuing but NFDC have asked that we keep our own rubbish outside our own property so that it can be identified if necessary. Rubbish bins and dog waste bins in public places are not being emptied as frequently - so please can you take your rubbish and dog waste home with you, and put it with your own home rubbish.
Many local companies are providing food delivery services (http://lymington.com/133-locally/1606-new-forest-business-delivery-covid19). It is great to see how businesses have adapted - do support them if you can! And a big thank you to Waitrose for supporting volunteers shopping for others by setting up the pay over the ‘phone system.
It is lovely to see the rainbows in the windows of our children's homes, and by Pennington Common there are many teddy bears displayed in windows for children to count. The wonderful display outside St Marks Church in Pennington reminds us of the amazing community spirit that exists here. And continued thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who are helping the less able in our community through this difficult time.
I wish you all a happy and peaceful Easter - with all egg hunts confined to gardens!"
