A Christmas Message from our Mayor
Message from the Town Mayor of Lymington and Pennington
Following yet another extraordinary year and as uncertainty and confusion reign, a brief message from our new Mayor of Lymington and Pennington, Cllr James Hoare - seen here delivering Christmas boxes to residents at Barfield Court, although he wasn't able to go inside!
A Christmas Message from the Mayor
"The preparations for Christmas this year have certainly been easier this year than 2020, but perhaps not as “normal” as we might all like.
Although the town was not able to enjoy the traditional evening Christmas Light Switch-on with the delightful stalls and mulled wine, we did bring a seasonal flavour to last Saturday’s market.
There was music for shoppers to enjoy thanks to New Forest Hospital Radio, and Father Christmas put in a full day's work greeting lots of local children. The atmosphere certainly felt festive!
Also a word for the quality and freshness of the vegetables and fruit on the market stalls, it really is excellent.
I also hope to see some of you at the Town Quay on this Sunday afternoon for “Santa on the Quay”.
This is always a fun event and we are grateful to Lymington Rotary and Lymington RNLI for making it possible.
The Town Council and Chamber of Commerce also very much support the Lymington Society’s initiative of “Shop Local, Save Shops” – encouraging people to shop in the town as much as possible, which is so vital for our High Street.
(Pictured here are Cllr Hoare with Donald Mackenzie and Peter Leyland-Jones.)
We are very fortunate in having so many independent retailers on the High Street and Cobbles. They have an incredible range of products to make great presents.
Please support them where you can.
We all know that this pandemic is sadly not over yet.
I encourage you to follow Government advice when making personal decisions on mixing socially.
Most importantly, I wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a healthy 2022 – hopefully with covid behind us."
